Obituary

Avis C. Jackson

June 25, 1945 – June 25, 2024

Avis C. (Anthony) Jackson, 79, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by family on June 27, 2024,
in Duluth, Minnesota. Avis was born in Brainerd, Minnesota, and was a cherished member of the French River Lutheran Church.

Avis spent her career as the most beloved bus driver for over 40 years. She was the kind of bus driver
that would wait if the parents weren’t there to get their young children off the bus, many times checking
to make sure everything was fine before dropping the kids off. Avis had a zest for life, reflected in her
passion for line dancing and country music. Avie (as her family called her) found immense joy in
spending time with her family and friends especially grandchildren and great-grandson, cherishing every
moment with them. Avis was such a strong lady enduring many health issues throughout her life but
continuing to live life to the fullest and was always ready to greet you with her amazing smile. She
would never turn down an offer to go out for coffee and a visit. She was our Energizer Bunny!

Avis was preceded in death by her husband Hilding Allen Jackson, parents Art and Alma Anthony,
brother Allan Anthony, parents-in-law Helge and Svea Jackson, sister-in-laws Janice Olsen, Phyllis
Olmstead, Jeanette Jackson, and Debbie Anthony, brother-in-laws Ronald Jackson, Martin Jackson, Philip
Jackson, and David Jackson.

She is survived by sons Bernie (Jamie) Jackson, and Brian Jackson, daughter Brenda (Jamie) Panger,
grandchildren Micky (Victoria) Panger, Baily (Nick) Soderlund, Riley Panger, and great grandson Leo. Her
brothers Arlan (Karen) Anthony and Arvid Anthony, sister-in-laws Shirley Oconnor, Delores Jackson,
Patricia Flaherty, and Laurie Jackson, brother-in-laws Gerry Jackson, Bob (Barb) Jackson, and Les (Carol)
Jackson.

Her warm presence and infectious enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and
all who knew her.

Avis’ Funeral will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at French River Lutheran Church, in Duluth, MN.
