Michael Alan Puttonen

April 30, 1955 – June 18, 2024

Michael Alan Puttonen, 69 of Cotton, MN, died on June 18 from complications of a stroke at Essentia Health, Duluth. He was born in Hibbing, MN on April 30, 1955 to Edwin and Jennie(Sallila)Puttonen.

Mike lived most of his life in Cotton. He joined the Air Force after High School and served at Vandenberg AFB in California, rising to Senior Airman after 4 years. His job was tracking satellites. Mike then returned to Cotton and spent his time writing and editing books. He had several books published, but mostly just loved to read and learn. He also had several cartoons published in local papers and designed some board games. He loved loving in the country, feeding the birds and watching the variety of wild animals that came around.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Puttonen, and sister Jean Aaberg.

He is survived by brothers David Puttonen, Bryan(Patricia) Puttonen, sisters Sandra Cherrington, Nancy(Larry) Falde and Sharon Puttonen, 4 nieces and 7 nephews.

Private services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery.
