William R. Niemi

April 17, 1937 – April 18, 2024

William (Bill) Niemi, of Duluth, died peacefully on April 18, 2024 at Franciscan Health Center on Park Point in Duluth. He was 87 years old. A special thank you to the staff at Franciscan for providing his care over the past 18 months.

Bill was born to Wallace and Anna Niemi on April 17, 1937. He was a lifelong Duluth resident. Bill worked as a meat cutter for 35 years at various grocery stores in the Twin Ports area. He retired from Super One Foods in 1993. Bill’s hobbies and interests included woodworking, fishing, deer hunting, admiring classic cars, playing bingo, attending gun shows and trap shooting. He was a 60 year member of the Northwestern Gun Club, NWGC.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Raymond Niemi.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois, and 2 children; son Joe(Melinda) and daughter Gail, and 4 grandchildren.
