Janet Caroline (Lundgren) Lockwood, 87, of Proctor, MN was called home to her heavenly father on May 1, 2024.
Jan was born during a blizzard on January 20, 1937 in Duluth, MN to Einer and Sally Lundgren.
She was raised in Arnold, MN with her beloved brother Ken, just down the road from her best friends, cousins Joyce and Ruthie. Growing up in the country, she had an active and adventurous childhood, running through fields with friends, playing sports, and raising her blue-ribbon winning sheep, Honey. She continued to be involved in the county fair throughout her life, both volunteering and entering flowers and artistic creations.
After Jan graduated from Central high school, she married James “Jim” Lockwood. With the
army, they traveled to Germany where their son, James “Einer,” was born. After returning to
the US, they had two more children, David and Lisa. They later settled in Proctor, MN.
Jan had an enduring faith in Jesus and was a long-time member of Immanuel (United) Lutheran
Church. She was active in the quilters group, after-service fellowship, lutefisk dinners, book
club, bake sales, holiday and church events. Jan was involved in many clubs and activities, including sewing club, food shelf, gardening, flowers, painting, rosemaling and sports. The friendships she built throughout her adventurous life remained strong and steadfast.
Jan worked for St. Mary’s hospital for many years, and maintained a close friendship with her “labor room gals.” Jan positively impacted the lives of everyone she met. She loved her family and friends dearly.
Known as “mom” and “grandma” to so many, Jan will forever be remembered for her positive attitude, generous heart, strength, and exceptional baking and cooking.
She is survived and forever adored by her Son, David (Karmen) Lockwood, Daughter Lisa
Lockwood, former husband Jim (Marilyn) Lockwood, Grandchildren Jacob Lockwood, Stephanie
(Severin) Hagen, Troy (Leah) Lockwood, Brent Lockwood, and Amie Lockwood. Great Grand
Children Clyde, Nathan, Nico, Noah, Soren & Evelyn. Special Cousins, Joyce, Ruth, and Gail.
Daughters-in-Law Jill Lockwood, Chrissy Lockwood, Son-in-Law Phil Hagen, Sister-in-Law Pat
Lundgren, Nieces Denise and Nancy, and many dear family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son Einer Lockwood, brother Ken Lundgren, Nephew Brian
Lundgren, and parents Einer and Sally Lundgren.
Service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at United Lutheran Church of
